On Mar. 28th 2010, ARKNAV international, announces the release of its latest GPS In-Vehicle Computer-IVC-900. The IVC-900 is a fanless and compact, vehicle mounted industrial-grade computer for a wide range of commercial vehicle applications. A rich array of I/O connections makes the IVC-900 suitable for advanced tracking applications in delivery, fleet management, warehousing/logistics and more. A proactive monitoring system allows continuous I/O monitoring even when the vehicle is turned off, and time delays and event triggers can be set remotely. The slim 43mm ruggedized enclosure has heat dispensing cooling fins and is anti-vibration and dust proof. It provides active real-time GPS communication and data capture for mass market use in commercial and private vehicles to improve efficiency, productivity and security.

A vehicle's electrical voltage supply can drop when a starter motor cranks an engine. Two mechanisms are deployed to ensure IVC-900 runs smoothly even through voltage dips. The first is its wide operating range-from 9 to 36 VDC. The second are advanced delay-on and delay-off functions for ignition ON/OFF signals. IVC-900 is powered by the vehicle¡¦s ignition system, depending on its state. When the ignition is turned off it powers down the main processor, leaving the low-power processor to perform continuous monitoring of sensors and devices. A configurable override switch allows users to manually control IVC-900, regardless of the ignition switch status. The override switch can be remotely configured with time delays to trigger events and perform set actions.

The Ublox 5 GPS module provides accurate positioning up to 2.5 m accuracy. Real-time communication is provided by a GSM module for reliable two-way data communications between the central dispatch office and its drivers via GSM/GPRS networks. The 3 axis G-Force accelerometer provides excellent vibration detection of even the slightest movement. The existing G-Force chip can be leveraged to support crash detection, driving behavior records, and many applications based on acceleration data, and a programmable watchdog timer for GPS and GSM will reset the system in the event of system hangs or crashes.

A built-in multi I/O port expander (IVC-X1) allows fast and simple connection for high or low-end smart systems (like diagnostics and sensors). The IVC-X1 provides 7 High voltage or low voltage digital inputs, 12 digital low outputs, 8 Analogue inputs (10 Bit) and two connections for I-Button or other scanning devices. The ArkNav multi I/O port expander IVC-X1 will give the system an independent low level hardware interface without any low level software design required. The ArkNav IVC-X1 has its own independent power converter. This design gives IVC-X1 the capability to monitor and trigger events (waking up the main system to respond to events) even when the main system is powered down. All system I/O functions can be customized for specific applications to suit all possible scenarios.
